If you’re a night owl just like me, you may sometimes find it difficult to sleep earlier than your usual bedtime. There are instances wherein you want to hit the sack right away, especially when you’re exhausted after a long day at work. Hours had passed and yet, you’re still wide awake. What do you do in times like this?
Read A Book
I find that reading a book for about thirty minutes or so while lying in bed, makes my eyes tired. Eventually, I’ll fall asleep. 🙂 I have finished The Art of War just recently. And now, I’ve started reading this self-help book.
Play a Game
I’ve been spending less and less time on Facebook for the last few months. The reason? Clash of Clans. 🙂
I love the game play and the game mechanics in general. The UI, UX, and animations are pretty impressive, too. Every night, I see to it that I check my village, at the very least. When I log in, I’d usually find that it was under attack (but no worries there, I can just steal resources from others – or seek revenge against my attackers.).
I only play at night or early in the morning. Sometimes, I’d go weeks without attacking other villages for loot; I just log in to participate in our clan wars (*been busy on some other things* //excuses).
Anyhow, in a span of a couple of months, I was able to expand my village. Yay!
From a tiny defenseless town, it’s now equipped with defenses to fight against invaders. 🙂
And though I originally planned to go clan-hopping, I’ve remained loyal to my second clan, Purple Magma. I’ve been with them for months now, and been promoted as one of the clan Elders. 🙂
Playing your favorite games on your phone or tablet is another way of passing time.
Check your E-mails
This one’s become a personal habit. I check my e-mail to see the schedule for the next day. Though I configured my account to send me event notifications thru SMS, checking the calendar gives me peace of mind. LOL. Just making sure I don’t miss anything. (Many don’t recommend checking one’s e-mails, though. I guess it’s more of a personal preference.)
Listen to an Audio Book or your Favorite Radio Station
In the past, I listened to audio books before sleeping. Aside from those, listening to the LifeFlow® Audio technology really helped me sleep – made me feel very relaxed. Now, I just listen to my favorite local radio station, primarily because I find one of their night programs entertaining. Haha.
Watch a Show or Movie
I’m fond of watching the Korean variety show, Running Man. I also love to watch K-drama series.
I haven’t done this but I have always wanted to run on a treadmill every time I can’t sleep. Problem is, I don’t have the machine at home. Maybe I should buy one in the near future!
Except for the last item, I do all these things every night, before sleeping. There are a lot more that you can do. For instance, if you’re into arts, you could do some painting or drawing. Whatever works for you. 🙂
